Music Lessons

Music is an important part of a Hawk Meadow education.

The Toddler and Primary classes have weekly Music Together curriculum taught by certified Music Together teachers within each classroom.

Specialized music instruction is available for the older Hawk Meadow students. The main goal of the program is to have fun through the magic of music. Other valuable side benefits include enhancing listening and reading skills, reinforcing cooperation and teamwork, and experiencing the personal satisfaction gained from hard work and discipline.

The Lower Elementary group attends a weekly 30-minute class. They learn to read music, perform in front of an audience, and experience ensemble playing through the use of recorders. Pre-recorders are designed for smaller hands, and are used by the younger individuals to insure success and a true feeling of accomplishment.

The Upper Elementary and Junior High classes are given the opportunity to join the band program. They initially start with the basic instruments – flutes, clarinets, saxophones, trumpets, trombones and percussion instruments. Students are assigned to a weekly 30-minute small group instructional lesson and also attend a weekly 30-minute full band rehearsal.

Both the recorder players and band students perform at winter and spring concerts, in addition to other events as opportunities arise.

The music instructor, Debbie Contini, comes to Hawk Meadow with 30+ years of music education and performance experience, and is thrilled to be a part of this wonderful community.
