I am happy to introduce myself as a teacher in the Primary A class. I am originally from Long Island, but after graduating from SUNY Albany I attended SUNY New Paltz, where I earned an MA in English and fell in love with the Hudson Valley. I currently live in Ulster County and I am a New York state certified teacher with nearly two decades of experience teaching.
After the birth of my son, I took some time off from my teaching career, and while I was home my husband and I began to consider options for our son’s education. We wanted to find a method that stresses experiential learning, allows for individual growth and fosters a love of independent learning. After some research, we found what we were looking for in the Montessori method. It was more difficult to find a school that follows the Montessori method with both authenticity and compassion, but when I took the tour at Hawk Meadow, I knew our search was over.
I am so happy to be a part of Hawk Meadow Montessori, both as a parent and as a teacher. I feel lucky to have found a school where I am confident that my son is getting exactly the education he needs, and I am thrilled to have found an opportunity to teach children in such a nurturing and respectful environment.
