Admissions & Enrollment
Hawk Meadow Montessori School (HMMS) receives inquiries about enrollment throughout the school year. If you would like to receive more information from HMMS or go on a tour of the school, please call Erin Castle at (845) 223-3783. In addition, you may request an enrollment application and return it to the school at your convenience. Tours of HMMS are usually scheduled for weekdays at 10 a.m. We recommend this time slot so that you are able to see all of our programs during the children’s work cycle. Tours are best taken without your children, so that you are able to have a detailed discussion of the Montessori philosophy, ask questions about our program, and view the classrooms without any interruptions. If you need to make other arrangements in terms of timing or bringing your child, we will try to accommodate your needs. Please call to schedule your tour at least one week in advance and we suggest you allow approximately one hour for the tour and time for any questions you may have. Once you have come for a tour and are interested in enrolling your child, we ask that you submit an enrollment application for him or her, as well as a non-refundable $75 application fee. Upon completing your child’s application, you may then schedule an observation in the classroom where you will be able to spend a half-hour in the classroom in which you are hoping to place your child. At that time, you will begin to experience the beauty and logic of the Montessori materials, as well as observing how the children move around the classroom and choose individual work, and how they interact with each other and with the teachers. After your observation, the next step in the enrollment process is to submit a commitment fee of $500 for your child, which will be applied toward his or her tuition for the upcoming school year. Submitting a commitment fee on your child’s behalf will reserve a spot for him or her for the upcoming school year. Please keep in mind that re-enrollment applications from current students will receive preference over prospective students. Our re-enrollment process takes place during the late winter/early spring, so it may be advisable to inquire about any openings and begin the enrollment process before that time, so that we can be made aware of your interest. If you have any further questions or concerns, please feel free to contact us.
